First off, if this has already been answered, by all means please give me a link to go to!
So, I had a rooted EvoLTE already, but had it swapped since I ordered it new and well, it came already activated and opened/fondled/etc.
So, I wanted to root this one as well, but was waiting for the 1.22.651.3 root. So, here's the hard part..
Hi,
Long time lurker and now I need to ask a question.
Before Xmas I bought a Sumvision Cyclone Voyager 10.1 and when I got it, I downloaded 'Titanium backup * root' and it told me that my device was rooted (great). Unfortunately after a weeks or so the touchscreen froze and I had to send it back to the shop.
I am considering to root my device som I get all access to Tasker. If I root can I backup contacts, apps etc. or will I lose it all? JB might come very soon. Maybe best to wait with root until JB is roller out?
I have a few naive questions
Do I have to do the OEM unlock to root the device? I would prefer not to wipe it.
Assuming I don't hard brick the device, can I go back to stock for warranty work?
Does rooting the device mean I can't get OTA updates from Google? For now I just want to run the stock kernel/rom and get updates.
So I flash new ROMs on my phone constantly and I would never be able to bear being such a flash whore without titanium backup. I'd like to root my nexus but I keep reading it deletes everything and as dumb as it seems, I want to keep my Garfield data! I've read about nandroid backup but it does the same image right?
just updated bionic to ICS .246 via RSD. was originally running stock GB rom other than it being rooted. I tried rooting ICS but im not sure whats happened. titanium backup says the phone is rooted but i cannot uninstall any of the junk apps nor make any changes usuing SQLite. ive tried FDR and rooting it numerous times using droid razr root, razrs edge and motofail ICS.
Can someone explain exactly how it works? I'm guessing it's pretty simple, I just want to make sure I do it right. First time I rooted I didn't do a backup(I know what a dummy) and flashed a ROM and of course lost everything and it was a pain getting it all set back up.
I am a complete noob to rooting. I got my 16GB Wifi-Only Nexus 7 at X-Mas, and didnt know you could root things until a few weeks ago. It is my first android device. Can anybody give me a step by step guide to rooting my nexus? I don't know anything, although I've seen these words (rom, flash, fastboot, kernel) thrown around, and I have a general sense of what a rom and a kernel is.
OK, I finally took the plunge and installed ICS but have a question or two. I want to install Titanium Backup but see that it can only be installed on a rooted phone. I'm willing to root my Note but understand that by rooting I will limit my upgrading of ICS.
