http://forum.xda-developers.com – Hi, I searched around everywhere for a root for my xperia neo v running ICS 4.0.4 on 4.1.b.0.43 but, all I could find where techniques that required me to flash 4.0.2.a.0.62 kernel and then root it. Is there any technique that doesn't require this flashing? I'm not that comfortable with flashing tricks and mortally afraid of bricking my phone. Hi guys, I am stuck in a very bad sitituation. I have installed a custom rom, but after some time I came to know I have lost root access. My phone's BLlocked. So cannot install cmw recovery without root. I tried flashing official Sony Xperia sk17i 4.1.b.587 .ftf file. But I am getting error as FLASHING ABORTED and the device restarts. I am attaching the flasboot screenshot.

If I just root my phone without flashing a custom rom what are my chances of bricking the phone?

After having this phone for a year, i decided that it was time to get root access. After following these instructions for unlocking the bootloader: Instructions | Sony Xperia , witch went perfectly well, I used this technique [ARC/ARC-S]Autoroot for unlocked bootloader - no flashing needed - xda-developers for getting root access.

I am thinking about rooting my Galaxy S II, but i am very in doubt! I want to know, why did/didn't you root? What made you decide to do it? Or what keeps you from doing it?

Also, where is the dangerous part? I mean, what part of the rooting can risk bricking? Is it the root process itself, or flashing a custom rom or maybe something third?

Hello everyone. I love my GS3 and I'm fine with ICS for now. Really the only reason I want to root is to get Google Wallet. Bloatware doesn't really bother me if I i hide it in the app drawer. I have a few short questions, if I root but don't flash a rom can I still install Google wallet using the edit Build.prop hack?
