Is there anyone here that can provide answers to these questions?
First I am quite new to Ubuntu and trying to commit myself to it as a PHP developer. Well, I am running on a guest Xubuntu 12.10 system based on Windows7 host.
I shared my web_projects folder and managed to access it by adding my ubuntu user to vboxsf group under /media folder.
I am writing a PHP script for a client which will be installed on a server which I do not have back-end access to. I only have access to a particular folder and database.
My script will upload files and create folders. However I get a permission denied error when I try run mkdir() and move_uploaded_file().
Today when i try to ssh into server, i get permission denied. (same for sftp) Ut used to work well before. didn't change any server setting, except was trying to modify a few folders chown permission.
Root user can ssh/sftp without problem.
Any expert can help? thx
(for root user, there is no .ssh/authorized_keys file, only have .ssh/known_hosts file.
Hi... I just installed the new release of Ubuntu 13.04 and found that my python scripts will not run even after giver it permission. I have also noticed that Root Terminal and access to the "Comupter" folder where each device is listed such as /Files. Why does the Adminstrator not have access to root? Do I have to give myself access in the user definition app?
Fedora 15 server minimal install

cat: /var/log/messages: Permission denied

-bash-4.1# ls -l /var/log

I have two folders in /media that I created previously, /media/usb1 and /media/usb2. Tried to create a 3rd folder today and I'm getting permission denied, using both sudo and then logged in as root.
