Few days back we reported that RIM (popularly known for its product BlackBerry smartphone) is working on adding Linux platform support to its open-source and cross-platform C++ game engine Gameplay3D.
Sticking to their promise, RIM has released a new version of the engine today with full Linux support. The engine is still in development so there isn't a game based on Gameplay3D yet.
Just over three months after Gameplay 1.2 was released, version 1.4 is now available for download. Gameplay is an open-source, cross-platform C++ game framework from BlackBerry developers. Maker’s Tale is a new fantasy RTS and strategy game for Linux. It features a tabletop board game like approach where the combat takes place in a sandbox environment enabling the player to rebuild the level during play.
The game is being developed using open source game engine jMonkeyEngine. A tech demo for Linux was released recently.
Red Rogue is a free and open source roguelike game in which you have to descend into the Dungeon of Chaos, retrieve the Amulet of Yendor, kill all who stand in your way and return with your prize.

The game is written in Flex and compiled with FlashDevelop.
Cross platform Torque 3D game engine will be open sourced soon under MIT license. In a blog post, GarageGames announced that complete Torque 3D 1.2 source code, along with the four starting templates, will be made available in a GitHub repository.
One of the goals of GarageGames is to improve Mac and Linux support once the code is released.
RuneSoft, a company that specializes in porting games to Linux platform, has released Cultures: Northland real time strategy game on Desura.
This is the third title they have made available for digital download. Previously, they have released 'Robin Hood: The Legend of Sherwood' and 'Airline Tycoon Deluxe' on both Desura and Ubuntu Software Center.

The game is currently in development but early gameplay videos are looking quite impressive.
Gameplay Football is a 3D football game by indie game studio Properly Decent. The game is currently in Beta but it works quite nicely on Ubuntu 12.10.
There are not many football games available for Linux and I found this to be quite good. Check out a video:

YoYo Games' popular 2D game engine GameMaker will soon have an option for exporting games to Ubuntu. Similar to what Unity 4.0 game engine is doing, developers will be able to export their games to Linux platform.
GameMaker can build both native apps and HTML5 versions.
