So I've gotten my dual boot between Windows 7 and Ubuntu, but I've found that I might have underestimated the amount of space I need on my Ubuntu partition.
I have this article http://www.centos.org/docs/5/html/5.2/Deployment_Guide/s2-disk-storage-p... which is not clear to me.
And also someone told me that swap space does not need to be disable if it is before the partition to resize.

This is the related question extend size of partition.
I am resizing a partition to add the extra/unallocated 1500GB disk space on t
I'm running Linux through VirtualBox on Windows 7. When I created the virtual hard drive I only used the default size which is 8 GB. I was able to resize the virtual hard drive to 40 GB but in Linux there's still very little space.
So I got a gparted live CD and booted the virtual machine into gparted to see if I could somehow add or resize the main partition.
Hello,
I have a partition that I resized using gparted from my ubuntu and after that I installed windows 7 on that.
partition 1: ubuntu
partition 2: windows
partition 3: unallocated
-->
partition 1: ubuntu
partition 2: windows (bigger)
Now theres a bit of freespace left and I would like to resize my windows 7 partition to use that free space.
If I partition it from ubuntu with gparted, t
I have started using a machine that has both Debian and Windows 7 installed. However, after installing some programs I started getting a message that there is not enough space. I knew that the system had more than 1TB of hard disk space in total and did some research.
I am trying to add space to my root partition and am really not sure the safest way to go about it. I have read this thread, Can I resize the root partition without uninstalling and reinstalling Linux (or losing data)? but I don't think the information lines up with my system.
Any help would be througholy appreciated.

I am trying to increase the size of the partition sda1. But when I try to resize, I don't see any available space though I have 7GB of space. How can I increase the size of sda1 using either 5GB or 2GB unallocated space?
FYI I am using Gparted livecd
Thank You.
Hello!
I have Ubuntu 13.04 installed on my (almost) my whole hard drive..and I would like to resize the main partition so I could install Windows 7 as well
The problem is..when using GParted (haven't tried anything else) I can't resize it. I tried to swapoff the swap partition and I still couldn't resize it.
Here's a screenshot of my current partition:
Thank you!
Hello everyone,
I am having big troubles trying to install windows 7 and suse 11.1 on the same PC
I never had problem when using XP, what I usually did was:
1) Install XP first, leaving during the disk partitioning an unallocated space for the linux installation
