I'm getting this too, I removed openjdk6 ages ago and installed jre and jdk. I think there's some package that has it listed as a dependency to install?EDIT: icedtea-web seems to require it and wants to install it. What is wrong with the jre and jdk?

I once tar'd a (huge) drive which took hours, so I could reformat it. Went to restore it and the tarball was corrupt and unrecoverable. Learned my lesson: I'm an idiot, check the backups before relying on them.

The OP can read their partition initially though, it's only after udev that they can't.Also, try adding "rootfstype=ext4" to your grub kernel line. Is your /boot on a separate partition or part of your / partition?

Do you have either of the files /usr/bin/mate-autogen, /usr/bin/mate-autogen.sh? Also, you should use code tags in the future.

Just switched from LXDM to LightDM also.It seems that there is somebody trying to implement systemd-logind support for LightDM.And the developers of LightDM welcomes the patch.https://bugs.launchpad.net/lightdm/+bug/930488So maybe what we need to do is just wait for some time.

Is it currently impossible to get lightdm working without support for systemd-logind?In archlinux , yes!
