Okay I'm not trying to be a jerk here. I actually want to know. I could be running wine 1.0 and still use playonlinux, and using POL I can download new updated versions of wine (many have patches already installed).
So why should I even bother upgrading wine manually? Why not just download a new version though POL when it's released as I need it?
I'm not familiar with compiling software from source.
I would like to test a patched version of Wine following this procedure.
I already have Wine installed and do not wish to modify it. I just want to have a secondary installation with a patched Wine.
How do I go about doing this?
Hi Folks,
Forum search doesn't appear to be working for me so apologies for posting something that is possibly answered elsewhere.
I play Lord of the Rings Online like a lot of people and a recent update has broken it for use under Wine.
I'm wondering how to go about getting a WINE patch implemented quickly into general release? The bug effects the newly released Lord of the Rings Online game, and possibly other applications as well, but it's really a WINE bug so I hope I posted in the right place.
Currently running 12.04.1 LTS w/ WINE 1.5.15.

Yes, I know it's a beta so things may just be broken. But I thought I'd ask just in case somebody can help.
I usually use 10.04, and I play a game using WINE that works fine. I thought I'd try it on 12.04, but a patch won't install. WINE errors saying "Internal errors - Invalid parameters received".

Hello, I've been trying to get Ableton Live working under Wine. There is a known bug and fix available for the rendering and exporting.

Currently you need to build wine yourself and apply this patch, as stated in Bug 15695.
OK this is getting a newbie frustrated,
I simply want to patch, compile, and install a specific version of wine.
Firstly I am fambouzzeled by the git process, so any suggestions there would be greatly appreciated, but I bypassed that and found some source code, patched it but it won't compile...
here is my error
