http://www.linuxquestions.org – Hi All I m using squid 2.7 Stable 9 and Dansguardian 2.10.1.1, i have compiled both squid and dansguardian, i have enabled follow_x_forwarded_for in squid to make clients IPs visible to squid, i have also set x_forwarded_for=on in dansguardian, this is working fine and clients ips are visible to squid. Now i want to set down-loadable file size limit upto 50 MB in squid by using the acl reply_body_max_size 52428800 allow mynetwork for every user except few users the above acl is not working properly. mynetwork is our private network which is 192.168.0.0/16. I installed dansguardian & squid on 11.2 and things seem to run fine. Squid auto starts but dansguardian does not. I have checked Yast2's runlevel services option and dansguardian is enabled to 'Yes'. But when i check with 'service dansguardian status' it reports 'unused'. If i start dansguardian by hand, things work perfectly fine.

I have broken my brain dealing with this. Squid was built from ports /usr/ports/www/squid32 with PF_TP enabled.

I have internet but strangely it bypasses squid. Obviously, squid logs are empty.

I am not sure what is wrong.

I am getting this message when setting up squid for the first time, on mac os x using webmin.

Your Squid cache directory /usr/local/squid/var/cache has not been initialized.This must be done before Squid can be run.

When i click on the initialize cache button, i get the message

Initializing the Squid cache with the command /usr/local/squid/sbin/squid -f /usr/local/squid/etc/squid.conf -z ..

I am new to linux administration and I am currently having a problem running Squid and Dansguardian on our new server. In our previous server, Squid and Dansguardian seems to be running fine but when one of our former administrators transferred the applications to another machine the apps seemed to malfunction.

I have a package that depends on squid 3.2. I want to replace squid 3.2 with source compiled version of squid 3.3 beta (which is not available in repository). When I remove squid 3.2, the depending package is also getting removed.

How can I mark the squid 3.2 dependency as manually resolved? Is that the purpose of the command aptitude umarkauto?
