I checked my phone for the green led blinking email notifier when I spotted a very faint constant red glow coming from above the screen (which was dark because it wasn't turned on yet) but the red glow was to the left of where the notification led is. It was glowing from either the ambient light sensor or the proximity sensor.
Hello,This is a glitch that I've experienced on Statler as well as Waldorf:Sometimes, after my laptop screen has gone dark because of idleness, and I try to "revive" it by pressing a few random keys, the screen only goes from black to really dark, so that I can barely make out the windows I had open.

My son changed the screen brightness on his Envizen V700B tablet to ZERO and now the screen is actually pitch black - although it is still working.
Anybody has got advice on how to change the brightness without having to feel your way in the dark on the touch screen for the Settings application.

My proximity sensor has stopped working. It was intermittent but now has stopped working completely. I flash back to stock and removed the screen protector but no luck :(
replaced this 3 times now and still the same old problem...screen going black and cant really do anything when ending a call...a battery pull resolves this issue...can some tell me if the proximaty sensor is held in place by some adhesive or is just simply left floating in the phone..?...i noticd that when the phone displays a black screen a violent shake or tap of the phone on my thigh seems to b

Like most other Android devices, the Note 10.1 has an "Auto Brightness" option. However, unlike most other Android devices (in my experience so-far), you can further tweak the brightness even when "Auto Brightness" is enabled, effectively adjusting the sensitivity of the auto-brightness mechanism.
Try it in a very dark room.

troubleshooting for a girl with a Bionic; replaced cracked glass/digitizer for her and updated to JB via the OTA update, but her proximity sensor is flaking out.
I've installed a few Prox. Sensor reporting apps to see what values it's putting out: it reads 3cm most of the time, and 100cm when swiping down the notification bar.
