Renaming files in a folder

http://www.unix.com – Hi, Hope someone can help... I'm pretty much new to unix and can only do basic commands. I have an issue where by every day I need to schedule a job to look in a folder with a name format of [date].IP. [date] will be different each day (when the day is over the folder extension changes), and rename any files with a .ERR extension to have no extension. what I've been doing is going into the folder each day and just typing in: - Code: mv *.ERR *. What I'm looking to do is something like: - mv /*.IP/*.ERR * . - this doesn't work. If anyone could help it would be very appreciated. (HowTos)
