I dont know where to post this to it ended up in here. I just want to ask how do you remove an entry in the Grub2 boot-loader? My system running on chakra (installed using Claire clean ISO) and windows 7 side by side got 4 entries on the grub boot-loader:1. for chakra2. advanced actions for chakra3.
I have EFI Windows 8 in my Asus K55V laptop. EFI partition is sda1.
I tried to install Ubuntu in EFI mode and selected separate boot partition as Ubuntu boot loaded.
Ubuntu installed perfectly, but I got 2 boot entries in EFI setup. When I tried to delete it in EFI setup, it restored on restart.
So I tried doing boot-repair, the thing is it added Grub2 to my sda partition.
I recently upgraded my system from Fedora 14 to 16 by http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Upgrad...dora_using_yum . All went quite smoothly except for one very odd problem. As you know this upgrade switches from grub to grub2. I created /boot/grub2/grub2.cfg with grub2-mkconfig and ran grub2-install without encountering any errors but when I restart I am taken to the grub prompt.
I accidentally deleted every thing from grub2 customizer including command line everything now i cannot boot in fedora 17 please help i can only boot into recovery mode and tried following
chroot /mnt/sysimage
grub2-install /dev/sda
grub2-mkconfig -o /boot/grub2/grub.cfg
but still nothing happens
i had also attached where i get stuck in boot

I have many different Ubuntu versions installed on my HD. I'd like to rename some of their entries in GRUB2 boot menu. I have tried two approaches.
1) Like mentioned in http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1347756
- This is not working, I have 9 different lines with SDA11 sections visible in my 30_os-prober file.
My PC is dual-boot, F16 and Ubuntu 12.04. Although I mainly run Fedora, Ubuntu's grub2 was automatically placed in my MBR when I did the upgrade from Ubuntu 11.10 to 12.04.
I recently ran preupgrade to upgrade from F16 to F17. When I tried to boot anaconda, the only Fedora entry in my grub2 menu was "Upgrade to Fedora 16 (Verne)".
I had a drive going bad so I wanted to remove the drive from the lvm but this drive also was where /boot resided. So I followed this tutorial I found on fedora forum http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showthread.php?t=264174 but tried to have the /boot added on an already existing lv instead of a new lv called lv_boot in the tutorial. So now I can't boot.
I have a dual-boot Windows 7 and Ubuntu with a custom boot-loader (long story).
My problem is that when I boot up, I get the choices for Windows and Ubuntu in my custom boot-loader, and if I choose Ubuntu, I then get GRUB, with a working Linux entry and a bunch of other entries that don't really make sense.
So basically what I am trying to do is completely remove GRUB, and just use my custom boo
Thanks, but I prefer win 7 boot manager as the default boot loader. Actually there was an entry for Win 7 in my grub2 configuration when things were right and I could jump between two boot managers.I think something is not right with the boot record dumped from /dev/sda4.
