I have been trying this to no avail. I am a linux newb, so a step by step explanation would be greatly appreciated. I have two video cards, nvidia geforce 8600 gt . I want a monitor to run on each card, so twinview cannot be used because my understanding that is only for single video cards.
I went to the system monitors tab and my second display is detected but disabled.
I've heard Nvidia cards usually have better support than ATI, but even within brands, is the support pretty even across different cards or how would I find which video cards are best supported?
Proprietary drivers. They are a thorn in the side of many a Linux distribution (and end user). The two remaining strongholds today are video cards, specifically those from AMD and NVIDIA. This is especially true for our friends who are still working on those PowerPC machines having ATI and NVIDIA video cards installed.
I'm buying a computer off of my brother, and I was just wondering which video card is better in terms of performance. His computer has a nVidia GeForce 7900GS, whereas mine has a nVidia GeForce 8600GT. I looked at a site which compared video cards and they seemed very similar, and I was wondering which would be a better choice.
Thanks for any input
Hi, I apologize if this may be kind of a dumb question; I have two video cards; an ATI and an NVIDIA card; My question is fairly basic; X11 aside, should I be able to plug both video cards in and get the 'console' to display by default out of both cards? Do I have to do anything special to setup the second card for console (i.e non-X)? I know the OS is detec
i have trouble with video driver. In my laptop i have 2 video cards
- geforce 630m
- intel hd 4000 series
I install ubuntu 12.04, os starts in unity 2d mode, i try to install drivers to both video cards, but results inefficiencies.
Nvidia control panel propose me create xorg config file manualy, but after this screen resolution resets to 640x480 and i cant back it to normal mode.
I would like to setup Windows Server 2008 R2 using RemoteFX at home, for a couple of users to all use the server (instead of buying each user a seperate computer).
I have been trying to find what processors (Intel based) that support the SLAT that is apparently needed to run RemoteFX.
The latest nvidia up in testing (310-19) has dropped support for cards 7xxx and below. To keep supplying a non-free driver for those cards, the last used nvidia that supported those is now packaged as nvidia-304xx.Anyone on those kind of older cards, please test this version (you'll see a pretty clear warning in the nvidia update):sudo pacman -Syu
sudo pacman -S nvidia-304xxThis should
Nvidia announced a few days ago, on its forum, a new version of its proprietary driver for the Nvidia graphics cards. Nvidia 195.36.24 adds support for new GPUs, and fixes a few issues. But the most important thing is that Nvidia 195.36.24 has support for X Server 1.8.
