Remastersys is a tool that can be used to do 2 things with an existing Klikit or Ubuntu or derivative installation. It can make a full system backup including personal data to a live cd or dvd that you can use anywhere and install. It can make a distributable copy you can share with friends. This will not have any of your personal user data in it.
Okay guys. I appreciate the abudance of information found already.
I have chosen to go with Remastersys to save everything on my laptop (Ubuntu 10.04, GNU Radio, etc.)
I ran this command: apt get install remastersys
after adding this to the sources.list: deb http://www.geekconnection.org/remastersys/repository karmic/.
I got this message:
The program 'apt' is currently not installed.

I wanted to make a custom ISO, so I spent the whole day setting up a partition with all the applications and little tweaks that I thought would be comfortable for Ubuntu 12.04 32-bit. I'm using Remastersys to do so, and when I went to do so, it said everything went fine, but when I checked under /etc/remastersys, I couldn't find it. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place?

This is honestly the only thing I find negative about Karmic, I feel that GRUB 2 is certainly a downgrade, at [...]
Hi
So I have a Ubuntu minimal install, it is exactly the way I want it when I want to have a fresh install, with the included settings, packages, etc.
It has no desktop, it is completely CLI.
What is an easy way to take the current state that it is in, and make it into a live CD with an installer to an HD?
