I am struggling to figure out why my ubuntu (precise) server always close an connection from the server side at around 24hours.
Ok, I've been shaking my head these last few days trying to VNC into my Linux machine from my Windoze 7 machine using SSH. Here is what I've currently done so far:
I have SSH configured using port 8567, and have opened the tcp port 8567 in my firewall. I am able to ssh into the linux machine using putty on windoze, and do anything on the command line just fine.
Hi All
I have put a web server on a machine with Ubuntu on it and I connect to this machine via ssh using Putty.
I am trying to share the www folder so I can open it form my windows machine so I can put the files in there.
I used the command : net usershare add www /var/www "www" everyone:F guest_ok=no
When I connect tot he machine from the windows machine using \\192.168.1.1
here is my situation.
I need to access an FTP server at work. The server will only accept local IP's, so I cannot access it from my home machine. I have been able to ssh into my unix work machine through PuTTY and from there successfully open a console ftp connection to the FTP server. I could work through this, but I would prefer not to as it is very cumbersome for me.
I have created a virtual machine and installed Redhat 6. I am having issues connecting using public key authentication.
I can use PuTTY on my Windows host to connect to the redhat guest, where I am prompted for a password.
When I want to work on my local Linux machines from windows, I use Putty+Xming and I set the Xming port in Putty connection settings.
This way I have a terminal on the machine and if, for example, I run the command 'firefox' a firefox window is opened in Windows (while it is really running on the Linux machine).
I have an Ubuntu 12.04.01 desktop PC, 64-bit. It has openssh-server installed.
When I SSH to the server from a linux box it works. But when I use PuTTY from my
Windows 7 PC to connect then I just get an immediate error:
The server closed the connection unexpectidely
Both the server and the PC are on the same LAN.
I connect remotely using ssh (putty). 90% of the time I tried to run a network related command, the server restarts. It becomes unavailable for few minutes and then back again. I noticed the first problem when I tried to svn checkout. I tried to restart the network service, but putty keeps giving me "Network error: Software caused connection abort".
