I fixed my screen resolution by going into Displays
Then setting up dual screens
Then having more screen resolutions, I set my Laptop screen to 1280x800 (16x10)
Then I turned off the second screen
Clicked Apply
and then my Desktop filled my whole screen.
Hope this is a simple fix for others also!
Today i installed redhat on one server this server will be used on DR site as a backup.
System has 2 HDD with 500GB space and I created the RAID0 and after that i completed the installation. But after the installation I had to reboot the server but Just after the BIOS screen I got Black screen with just GRUB written.
Raid0 is setup as Hardware Raid
Whats wrong .....
I've been trying (finally) to improve the appearance of fonts in my system. In the process of following the wiki font configuration guide, I checked out the dpi/screen dimensions identified by xorg. According to my calculations, xorg is getting the physical dimensions of my laptop's display wrong.
I have Dell 7520 with AMD Raedon 7XXXM graphics card, thankfully, I got to make it work. But the problem now is screen resolution, as I have screen resolution of 1920 X 1080 for 15.6" laptop, which is way too much. In the Display Monitor settings, I cannot change it to whatever I want, only the resolution with 16:9 works perfectly.
I bought new laptop Dell Inspiron and first thing I installed Linux Mint and Eclipse for Java development. But I didn't like the look of Eclipse, everything just looks too big on the screen. Half of the space is taken by the tabs and menus, no room for editor, also the font is too big.
On newly installed Ubuntu 11.10, I can't set screen resolution higher than 1024x768.
Ok... So I am running Ubuntu 12.10. I installed a NES emulator from the software center. I downloaded a ROM, played it, and everything worked fine. I decided to run in full screen mode (Because it's not fun playing on a 2-inch screen) and it properly switched resolution to 640*480 to run in full screen mode. Then, being used to windows, I used Alt+Enter to Exit full screen mode.
I have installed Fedora 18 and chosen resoltion 1366x768 but the screen's text gets distorted.
However, any higher resolution 1440x900 or lower 1280x800 is perfect.
But I want 1366x768 which is best suited to me.
I have tried to take screenshot but its strange to see that the distortion is not seen in the screenshot. Thats why I have not posted the screenshot.
I'm using 12.04 on a Desktop--I installed with a CD; I installed by USB earlier, while Wubi produced an error (I only tried this method once). While running Precise from the CD or USB, the display was fine--it was listed as a Dell 15-inch on this Desktop, and not Laptop.
