Recovering NTFS partition after installing Ubuntu

view story

http://askubuntu.com – So I installed ubuntu clicking on Installed over windows 7 ( which I thought was going to use my W7 partition only NOT de whole HDD). So I deleted a 300GB data partition on a 750 GB HDD. When using testdisk it only finds linux partitions ( I think I'm ussing the right settings, because I'm following a tutorial to recover a NTFS partition.) So I can't recover my partition. Also I tried to recover files but this gives weird names to the files and would be a pain to rename 100 Gb of mp3 and etc. Are there better option? is there a way to recover files with their original names ? I'm using (HowTos)
