I'm running Kubuntu 12.04 on my lenovo y410 laptop, and recently my sound started coming from both headphones and speakers at the same time.
I compiled and installed the realtek driver and now the automute works but the headphone volume is very low, and in alsa mixer the headphone slider is disabled (it just says 00 and won't adjust).
I have tried killing pulseaudio. I have tried editing alsa-base.conf. I have tried alsamixer. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling alsa-base and pulseaudio. I have tried everything I could find, but still no sound.
My computer is an HP Pavilion dv6 6190us with switchable AMD and Intel graphics. The sound stopped working suddenly after an update.
Hi, I am having an issue with the sound output on my thinkpad x60. It only has a headphone jack no speakers. I read the alsa wiki thoroughly and even got the low sound workaround, but it just made things sound distorted no help with the volume.
Hi, I run Ubuntu 12.04 and have Lenovo G780 laptop.

Hey there. This is my first try on Crunchbang distro, I'm still getting used to it, but I can say it's very good. :)I'm trying the CrunchEee lite version, and I don't know how to get the sound working.
After recent kernel upgrade speakers in my laptop stopped working (only headphones output works).I had been using ALSA.I switched to OSS to bring the speakers back and it works.I'm fine with OSS unless all of my apps recognize and work with it flawlessly.(Internal mic however works neither with ALSA nor with OSS :-( )Searching the net I found that it's an overall problem with this piece
I'm running 64-bit Ubuntu 10.04 LTS on a Mac Mini. Sound has been iffy for a long time, not working for some users or situations, no sound over Skype, and when I'd run VLC, I'd almost always get a warning to update my alsa-lib (which was 1.21).
I updated it and now I have no sound whatsoever.
