It has occurred to me that a workstation can connect to a printer in two ways:
1). Printing directly to the IP of the printer with the print driver installed locally.
2).
With 11.2 I had a printer, shared on the network, and able to print from my windows station.
When I updated to 11.3, the disk sharing still works fine, but the printer share is not accessable anymore.
I have no clue why, but in windows I see "Access dienied, unable to connect.
Offcourse I switched the firewall off, which is always the first thing I do :)
I am trying to setup up an HP Officejet G85xi printer through an Iomega Home Media Network Hard Drive, so that the printer can be shared over the network without requiring that an attached computer be turned on to print. There is a place on the back of the Network Hard Drive to plug in the printer with USB.
I'm working on a new print server running Windows Server 2008 R2. The shared printers will be listed in Active Directory. The print server has a host record with one name, but I want to users to connect using a different name, setup via a cname record on the dns server.
The problem is that these shared printers are listed in Active Directory using the host A record.
I have a Windows Server 2008 R2 print server set up hosting out multiple printers to my end users. I would like to change the naming convention for all of the printers hosted on the print server and want this change reflected on the client end.
For example: I have a HP4000 printer named "Cottage" on the print server.
Hi all,I have a Canon MP600 printer/scanner connected via USB to a small print- and scan-server running Arch (last update was yesterday). The printer is shared over the network and can be accessed from a Windows 7 client. But from time to time after 1-2 prints the printer crashes. I that happens, only a power disconnect can bring it back.

This quick tutorial will show you how to add or connect to a shared Windows printer via samba with the help of SWAT. In Ubuntu there are many ways to add printers. One is to add local printers and another is to connect to a shared printer installed on a Windows machine or another Linux machine.
