On Statler, the whole page looks antialiased to me. Of course, as an old Mac SE user, I have a soft spot for sharp bitmapped fonts, so the scrot posted by smoki above gives me a warm sense of nostalgia......more to the point, hhh, I notice the text in your address bar and tabs is also aliased, so it seems there more to it in Waldorf...
I've downloaded Nedit and am trying to tweak the fonts since the defaults are ugly/unreadable.
The font list is missing many of the fonts installed on my machine, for example gedit shows monospace but nedit does not. Any way to make nedit aware of all the fonts?.
Also, does nedit support anti-aliased fonts?.
Thanks.
Hi,
I'm using openSUSE 11.3 Ever since I started using Linux, I have had problems with Korean fonts. Now I think I am close to the solution. I want to know how openSUSE decide which fonts to use as the system default fonts.
$ fc-list | sed 's,:.*,,' | sort -ulists everything except Type1 directory contents.Meanwhile fc-cache searches and caches /usr/share/fonts/Type1$ xlsfonts|grep nimbus shows the font.% xset q
/.../
Font Path:
/usr/share/fonts/100dpi,/usr/share/fonts/75dpi/,/usr/share/fonts/cyrillic/,/usr/share/fonts/local/,/usr/share/fonts/misc/,/usr/share/fonts/TTF/,/usr/share/fonts/Type1/
Oh great, I just did a complete new installation and just before making a backup I did the same thing again!
I copied a folder with fonts to /usr/share/fonts/newfonts, tried to use fc-cache and some other commands that were listed in a guide about installing fonts in firefox and one of them did not work and now Firefox does not have any fonts anymore.
Hello everyone,On my system (Arch64, Gnome 3), some fonts are very small in some applications which use qt. All the fonts in Spotify (native) are barely readable. Same thing in KeepassX for the entry details in the bottom panel, although the rest of the text is normal. VLC works fine.I checked the default font in qtconfig, it's Cantarell 12 (as for gnome).
I just installed my Windows fonts like I normally do(/usr/share/fonts/truetype/fonts). I did sudo fc-cache -f -v and restarted. When I logged on and went too Google there were no fonts on the page. I tried other websites such as this forum, Neowin and Bing. All didn't have fonts. FontyPython said "Font may be bad and cannot be drawn."
I have accidentally deleted some of the fonts from /usr/share/fonts folder. They must have been crucial since now I have various display problems ( underscore and font size display ).
I have already tried resetting gnome and system fonts settings but it does not solve the problem.
This might be a noob question, but could you please elaborate on where to put that and how to et cetera? Will it just work to copy/paste that into my fonts.conf or is there extra stuff?
