OK, so I just finished a regular "Desktop" install and took the defaults for everything with no extra software installed; same problem with the pauses. Here is a link to ... [by pjc123]
hi,Getting random pauses normally 2-3 seconds in length in most applications. At first I thought it was releated to java, but noticed the pauses in Opera and kwrite. They are frequent enough at least once every 10minutes and sometimes a lot more.
I've installed FC11 on an HP 6715b laptop, fresh install on second partition of hdd dual booting with XP.
During and since the install, the laptop "pauses" with no disk activity until I move the mouse cursor using the touchpad, then everything continues as normal. The pauses happen at random and disk activity recommences as soon as I touch the pad.
This goes in the wierd problem of the month category. I have duplicated this with Slackware 14.1 32 bit and 64 bit.
When running Slackware 14.1 and xfce as windows manager, the entire gui will pause every minute or so, for a duration of .5 to 2 seconds, typically for a second or less. I'll be typing, and the system will stop responding for a second, then continue on.
I recently had a CPU cooler fan fail, and used my processor's OEM cooler as a backup. While it is a bit noisier, and my cpu temps get a bit higher. It works, for the most part, well. I've begun to notice though, that I seem to be experiencing a performance hit after having replaced the cooler.
I found an Android NBC TV app for watching full TV shows on the NBC Television web site. It got a lot of bad reviews, but I installed it anyway. It does indeed work poorly; the video pauses a lot, is jerky, and it pauses for buffering way too much.
Is there another way to watch these shows on the Galaxy Note i717?
