Hi all,
On my lenovo thinkpad T430s, the latest ubuntu freezes randomly roughly once a day. I also tried other distros, including Arch, Fedora, Mint... none of them works perfectly --- they all freeze randomly.
Right now, I didn't see anything useful from the log.
Problem:
Fedora 17 64bit freezes on a regular basis no matter what programs I use. I suddenly can't move the mouse curser, everthing freezes and the display turns off and on again. When a song or a (Youtube-)video is playing, the video freezes too but I can still here the sound.
==> I have to push the reset button on my computer or hold the power button.
I have read every single post about system freezes, but cannot find my exact problem.
Basically, Ubuntu 11.10 is randomly freezing. When it happens, I cannot do anything, not even move the mouse. Everything is locked up, even the keyboard is not responding (num lock does nothing).
Hello,
In the last days, I've been trying to configure a GMA500 using the modesetting driver from AUR, which is working good and fast. I can even play some HD videos with mplayer. But I realized that very randomly the video freezes. First I though that it was mplayer or ALSA, but soon I realized that the entire X freezes, and unfreezes only when I press a key or move the cursor.
Hi, I'm having problem with my newly installed HTPC which is running Ubuntu Server 11.10 32-bit. The system is overall stable and I haven't experienced any random crashes or freezes.
But I have one major problem, if I do a SFV-check on several SFV-files the system completely freezes.

I have installed Arch Linux on my desktop, however I am getting random complete system freezes when I use either GNOME Shell or KDE 4 when using OpenGL compositing. I have resorted to using Xfce (which uses Xrender for compositing).Sometimes the system freezes immediately upon login.Sometimes GNOME Shell says "Oh no!
I've recently installed Fedora 12, and it constantly freezes. The only common aspect between the freezes is that the freezes occurred when firefox was running. When it does freeze, I'm not able to use ctrl+alt+f[1...6] or even ctrl+alt+backspace. Has anyone else encountered and/or resolved this?
