I have a MBP9,2 (mid-2012) at work. I put Ubuntu 12.04 on it after some efforts. Everything works more or less now, except I get random freezing every now and then. I have to power off the machine to restore it.
For awhile now I've been using 64bit ubuntu on my Toshiba C660, and its been fine except more recently I've been getting random power cuts even though my battery is good and whilst my charger is plugged in.
Now I thought it might be due to something wrong in 64bit ubuntu 12.04. So I switched and reinstalled to 32bit ubuntu 12.04. No Help. It did another random power cut.
On my laptop Dell Inspiron 9400 I have XP 32-bit installed for years. No graphics problem, never.
I've installed Ubuntu 12.04 LTS 64-bit recently and I've got problems ever since. On both OS.
I've tried quite a few different drivers for Ubuntu but I have no luck (knowledge;)).

I get random freezes with Ubuntu 12.04 (kernel 3.2.0-31). The entire system freezes, mouse pointer doesn't move, keyboard input doesn't work. I'd say this happens about once per week on a system that is up 24/7. A hard reboot solves the problem.
My questions: (1) Has anyone else experienced this? (2) I have a suspicion that a kernel upgrade may solve this.
On my Ubuntu install on my MacBook Pro 9,1 (late or early 2012, IIRC), the graphical mode works fine. However, when I switch to a tty (Ctrl+Alt+F1-through-F6), the screen seems to completely turn off (not even the backlight stays on).
I just installed Ubuntu 12.04 on my MacBook Pro 9,1 Mid 2012 non retina 15 inch. I installed the 4 drivers from this link https://launchpad.net/~mactel-support/+archive/ppa?field.series_filter=p... but still I can't get wireless or bluetooth to work. Even adaptive brightness I think isn't working. Can anyone suggest where to get the complete set of drivers?
P.s.
I have read every single post about system freezes, but cannot find my exact problem.
Basically, Ubuntu 11.10 is randomly freezing. When it happens, I cannot do anything, not even move the mouse. Everything is locked up, even the keyboard is not responding (num lock does nothing).
I have here this brand new Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Carbon and it came with Windows 7 preinstalled.
For dual booting purposes I installed Ubuntu 12.04 LTS, and while configuring the system, I noticed it totally freezes at random, sometimes after 15 minutes, sometimes after an hour.
By totally, I mean the screen freezes, the hard drive indicator doesn't flicker anymore, magic keys such as Ctrl+Alt+
