I'm having a problem with my mdadm setup. I have a raid-6 running and it currently has 6 drives. My Mobo has 6 sata ports, one of which is used up for the boot drive (not involved in the array). The sixth array drive is on a PCI sata/raid card. I have a recurrent problem where my raid will drop one of the disks at boot.
I Currently have a DL350 G5. I have 4 74GB SAS drives in RAID that work fine but I tried to add a 1TB WD RED SATA drive for some storage and the RAID controlling isn't giving me an option to create a new logical disk.
At first I thought it might be the WD Drive so I tried the same with a 500GB from an old laptop and nothing is still showing up.
I have a SuperMicro Super Workstation 5036T-T server. I previously setup a mirror RAID (hardware) and installed MS SBS 2008 with no issues. It saw the RAID as one drive and installed. I pulled the two drives, installed two 200Gig SATA drives and setup a striped RAID. When I tried to install Ubuntu 13.10 64bit server version it detected the RAID drives and asked if I wanted to activate them.
I'm new to Arch and I'm setting up a NAS and I'm stuck on the RAID setup.I have an SSD (sdb) for the filesystem (non-RAID) and I'm trying to set up my two 2TB hdds, sda1 and sdc1 in a RAID 0 software array via the Arch Raid wiki. These drives were pulled out of my old HTPC, but were not previously in a RAID setup. The NAS is currently headless (kinda), so I've been do
