Is there anyway to force your phone to use a certain tower? I'm on an train near DC and an connected to a tower in Houston TX... Getting better speeds than when I'm home and am connected to Nearest server. I'm mobile and haven't been able to find this in answers. I connected to a closet tower and had mediocre speeds.

In my android app I have to gather a lot of information regarding the cell tower
like Network name, Network code etc etc but before I start capturing all those
things I want to make sure that a cell tower connections exists
i.e. GSM or CDMA, but I want to ensure that there is a connection. Otherwise
I would just like to return.
For example, as we do it in case of Wi Fi.
A buddy once mentioned to me that he sometimes tapes an ice pack to his computer's tower to keep it from running hot.
Right now, here in Columbus, Ohio, USA, it's 90 degrees in the shade and the cpu fan is spinning overtime. Is it safe (to the computer) for me to prop an ice pack against the motherboard side of my computer tower (the first one in my signature, below)?
