I have an MSI Radeon HD 7850 card. MSI provide no Linux support, and the AMD driver gives me an Unsupported Hardware watermark that does not show up in screenshots.
I uninstalled the proprietary driver and found that Unity 3D no longer works, and I really only picked Ubuntu because of the excellent shortcuts provided in the recent versions.
I have agp radeon HD 3450 graphic card. I've tried using proprietary driver but i couldn't do a bunch of stuff, movies stuck, etc.. Anyway now i use open source driver from ubuntu repositories, the one that is installed with system.
My problem is this. Resoluton of the screen that best fits me is 1152x644. But in monitor properties i can't set this resolition. Only 1024x768 and 1280x1024.
Does Ubuntu 11.10 support Ati radeon 9200/9250 Graphics card? Is there any driver? Where can I find it?
Yesterday we delivered benchmarks showing how the open-source ATI Radeon graphics driver stack in Ubuntu 10.04 is comparing to older releases of the proprietary ATI Catalyst Linux driver. Sadly, the latest open-source ATI driver still is no match even for a two or four-year-old proprietary driver from ATI/AMD, but that is with the classic Mesa DRI driver.
I just installed a Radeon HD 6790. Before that, I was only using the on board card, and even before that, I had the Radeon 6770 in there. I still had the proprietary driver installed.
When I started up the computer with the new card, the command lspci showed that I had a "Radeon HD 6700 Series" card.
I am using 64-bit 12.04LTS. I have manually tried to install AMD Radeon HD 7470M proprietary drivers from AMD official site. But, after installing, when I tried to launch Catalyst Control Center, a message is shown like this: "There was a problem initializing Catalyst Control Center Linux edition.
I would like to know how to install an Ati Radeon driver within Ubuntu Linux. It is easy to install the Windows driver since it is an *.exe file that you just double click and do a custom install. How do I install the Ati Radeon driver in Ubuntu Linux from the Ati website. I have already downloaded it but don't now don't know what to do. Thanks in advance for the replies.
