Rackspace Hosting on Monday announced the launch of OpenStack, an open source cloud platform designed to foster technology standards and cloud interoperability. NASA is collaborating on the project.

Cloud computing seems to be all the rage these days. It’s not just a passing fad of course, it’s actually a very real business and a state of the art. The problem is that cloud computing means many things to many people, whether it’s public cloud, private cloud, software, infrastructure or platform as a service, etc.

Rackspace (NYSE: RAX) has launched a Partner Leadership Council that features 10 of its top cloud computing channel partners. The council includes VARs, MSPs, systems integrators, digital marketing agencies, and e-commerce experts that are resell Rackspace’s services and/or leverage Rackspace data centers.
