A Quick Preview Of The Upcoming Ubuntu Manual

view story

http://www.learningubuntu.com – In the next Ubuntu release, 10.04 Lucid Lynx, there will be a comprehensive manual included which will cover a number of guides, how-tos, and everything a new user needs to know after installing Ubuntu. The Ubuntu manual will be distributed as a PDF file, and will be updated every six months. The first alpha release of the Ubuntu manual is set to be ready by February 10th, but an early release is available for download. The title page for the Ubuntu manual has still not been decided, but there has been several title mockups already submitted. One of the most polished title mockups submitted was this particular piece. The Ubuntu Manual team is looking for contributors, so if you wish to help out then follow the steps which are located the "Contributions" section of the Ubuntu Manual Wiki: Join the Ubuntu Manual Team and the mailing list. Check out the blueprints and find something that is unassigned that you think you might be able to handle. Assign yourself to that blueprint, and read up on it in the blueprints section of this wiki. If you can't find anything that you think would suit you, then scroll down a bit more and have a look at the "To Do List" or email the mailing list and ask for help, or join #ubuntu-manual on irc.freenode.net and ask someone what you can do. If there is something that you think is right up your alley, but is already assigned to someone else, then contact them and ask them if they would like any help - chances are they would love an extra pair of hands. If all else fails, then contact Benjamin Humphrey and he can find something for you to do! If you speak more then one language, please consider helping out translating. (HowTos)
