Hello,
I don't know if this is a problem or normal, but I don't remember it.
My laptop running 11.10 currently exhibits the following actions:
a) Opening any directory using Nautilus via Places in GNOME-fallback also opens an "Opening 'Directory'" message window on the bottom panel as well as the directory itself (i.e., opening Documents will open Documents but also cause an additiona
Hi everyone,
Gnome 3.4 brought us the ability to see recent documents in the desktop search via gnome shell, but at some point in the last few months, Gnome Documents has become the default program for opening libreoffice documents and .pdfs from the shell as well.
GNOME Shell, a user interface that provides functions for the GNOME 3 desktop environment, has just received a new update and it's now at version 3.7.4.1.
GNOME Shell 3.7.4.1 has been released just a couple of days after the previous version, in the branch that will eventually become GNOME Shell 3.8 and it does pack quite a lot of new features.
Highlights of GNOME Shell 3.7.4.1:

I am running Fedora 17 gnome (shell) 3 and gnome terminal 3.4.1.1.
I am a user of both gnome-terminal and midnight commander. As default gnome-terminal has always used F10 (which I need while using mc), to opening the top menu. So was this time.
I am sure this is a silly question but I can't for the life of me find an answer. Obviously, Gnome3 is capable of organizing applications by category, and when I am in Gnome Classic, of course it does. However, when I am in the new shell this category view disappears.

I've been dealing with different regional settings (US, Canada and other locations in English, as well as other countries and languages), but I cannot get Gnome-shell Calendar to begin with Monday, instead of Sunday (see image). I have even modified the "en_US" file in /usr/share/i18n/locales/ (line: first workday: 1). All without success.
hey all --
stupid question.... in gnome-shell certain commands (eg., switching workspaces by key combo) leave me with a crosshair-like mouse cursor rather than an arrow. once it's switched to this, i can't do anything until i click in order to get focus back to whatever i'm doing. it also seems to happen at random sometimes, or when alt-tabbing...
I have Fedora 11 with GNOME. I can create desktop launchers to facilitate mounting remote volumes (e.g., shared folders across a network). GNOME does this by creating ".volume" files (similiar to .desktop files which are application launchers).
