By definition the mainline kernel builds are made from virgin
unaltered mainline kernel sources and therefore do not, and should
not, include any Ubuntu patches or drivers. There are also no binary
drivers for these kernels.
Where do I find sources (or binaries) for the most basic drivers, like for example b44 and iwl3945?
VastOne wrote:Yes you can do this by changing the Statler sources to Waldorf sources once the old version is installed and then doing a apt-get update apt-get dist-upgradeBut there will be massive updates and in all likelihood it will fail... I would not recommend doing thisOh, thanks for letting me know that. I think it's best I wait until Janice is released then.
I wanted to know what exactly is this whole "lack of sources" thing?
What sources are lacking? (I found on the "samsung open source" website many sources for the i9300)
What benefits will be if the sources will be published?
Is there any sign from samsung to release them?
I'm using Ubuntu 12.10 and I would like to install additional drivers, but as the title says, it's not possible to start the Software Sources GUI. The Menu Entry in the Ubuntu Software-Center Edit > Software Sources is disabled and not clickable:
Can anybody tell me how I can start that Software-Sources dialogue?
