Q&A: Dave Stevens, CTO for Brocade speaks out

Brocade (NASDAQ; BRCD) recently announced its CEO, Michael Klayko, is leaving the post after more than seven years. The company, which for the last few years has been working hard to entrench itself as a leader in the Ethernet fabric space, also has been hanging a big “For Sale” sign hanging since about 2010. Could Klayko’s departure finally stir some interest in Brocade?

Brocade (NASDAQ: BRCD) is stepping up its game in the fabric networking space with its latest switch, featuring support for 100 Gigabit Ethernet (GbE). The VDX 8770 is a 1/10/40 GbE modular switch designed to extend Brocade’s Virtual Cluster Switching (VCS) technology for Ethernet fabrics and cloud-optimized networks.

On my Brocade FCX switch, I'm able to see syslog messages in-line when I'm using a console cable by running the command logging console from the configuration menu. However, when I SSH in, I'm unable to see the syslog messages in-line. On Cisco switches, I know the command is logging monitor to do this, but it doesn't seem to work on the Brocade FCX switches.
