Read a fascinating article on Lifehacker about this. The link is below and I recommend reading the body of the article. The part that I find most interesting is:
In Android, processes and Applications are two different things. An app can stay "running" in the background without any processes eating up your phone's resources.
After starting VirtualBox, the computer became sluggish and then hung completely due to OOM.
hey,
I have read on this forum that killing tasks uses more battery. How does this work? i dont have a task killer installed, but i do long press on the home key and swipe away apps that i am not using. Does this amount to task killing?
I have a strange memory behavior in an Android application I'm developing. The application is running fine, but if I look to a "task manager" in Android, like the Samsung SII task manager or the "Memory Usage" application on a Nexus 7 it shows that while using the app the amount of memory used is rapidly growing to an insane amount, like hundreds of megas (600~700MB on the Nexus 7).
dear all,
kindly i want to check my server memory utilization i used alot of commands but i want to make sure that it is acurate let me explain
i have a server which has 32GB RAM
Total Memory = 33423360 kb
Free Memory = 4172568 kb
Utilized Memory = 29250792 kb
Memory Utilization Percentage = 87.5 %
if Utilized Memory = 29250792 kb how can i make sure which processes eat this amount of memo
I have a smartphone with Android Froyo, rooted and with almost all the apps moved to SD but the internel memory decreases continuously. ¿How can I avoid that or detect what is the reason for that memory usage?
Thanks.
Hi I'm wondering how Android is managing memory and I can't find precise answer anywhere.
Let's assume I have an application with 5 activities on current activity stack (4 are stopped and 1 is resumed), there is no service connected. I press HOME button so that all of my activities are stopped.
I start some other memory consuming application and overall device memory is starting to be low.
Hi people.
Recently,i rooted my L7 with ics v10h.
I installed CPU Master Free to set cpu maxim and mininum, but still has lag and is very slowly.
Aslo, i installed Memory Booster Lite or RAM Optimizer and it's incredible what i saw:
Code:
Total memory: 409 MB
Free Memory: 127 MB
Used Memory: 282 MB
This is my memory ram.
I have an LG -E405 phone running Android 2.3.6.
As can be seen here, the phone has 1GB internal memory and 384Mb RAM.
When I look at default App manager, this is what I get,
RAM - 231Mb
System Memory - 157 Mb.
Internal Memory - 378Mb.
SD Card - 2Gb.
Also, all the applications I install, by default take up space from System memory.
Many tutorials explain about moving apps from internal memor
