Hello, so here's my situation
I want to flash a ROM. For all intents and purposes, we'll say I want to flash FreeGS3. I went and downloaded FreeGS3 and the Kernel they recommend you use with it. My problem is, custom recovery simply DOES NOT WORK FOR ME. I don't know why, it just never has. I have done everything I could find on making CWM or other recoveries work. Nada.
So I flashed Paranoid-Android Jellybean and it just screwed up my phone. I had to use Odin to bring it back to stock. Now I've got it almost back to where I want it but I can't for the life of me get CWM recovery onto my phone.
So I thought I'd post here to let peeps know I rooted my SGS2, custom kernel, custom recovery, and SU. No real hard work on my part, just following directions (which are here.)
Make sure you've installed Kies beforehand. Then get Odin and the linked kernel. Reboot your SGS2 into download mode (power off, then hold vol - and power, then press vol + when prompted) and connect to your computer.
Here is TWRP for Gio.
I havent bricked my device by installing it, but the only thing I got was blue screen instead of recovery mode (I was not able even to launch CyanogenMod)
Here is my github, so if you how to fix this, I'll be really happy.
After testing you can restore your recovery only via Odin
Thanks Jellaxy team for kernel & device config
Thanks Shaaan for TWRP for Ace (I'v
For those of you who would like to run stock kernels with the builds
here is repacked FK23 kernel with my recovery and some init.rc edits.
SD card read speed.
Custom boot animation support
init.d support
Link:
AGAT_FK23_repack.tar Flash with ODIN or Mobile ODIN.
Did some edits in initramfs and run some tests.
Moved couple of apps to sd.
My phone is stuck in Odin Mode and it gives a message that says that firmware upgrade encountered a problem and to connect it to Kies, I have tried holding the volume buttons at the same time as the power button to go into recovery mode but it doesn't work, it shows the samsung logo for less than a second and goes back to Odin Mode.
After all the problems i had with my Wifi using ics (arco) i decided to downgrade to stock rom but with the new baseband hoping to solve the prblm.
Hi guys,
A small problem here: when starting, it says "No Recovery Kernel".
This is after I tried to flash ICS, and somehow the battery fallen off in the process.
I tried re-odin-ing the CWM, still same error message. Any other ideas?
There was a time I was good at this. All I can do now is just trip my flash counter or brick my devices.
Download the file.
Unzip
Set the device in download mode (yes, my drivers work)
Run odin
Point the PDA to the tar file.
Flash. The thing reboots, odin says pass!
Try to boot into recovery and only get the stock recovery.
I have done this several times now. And same thing.
