I use this app with my nexus 7 (2012) daily, since getting my nexus 7 (2013) it doesn't work.
It seems I cannot power the serial port ( doesnt support power input).
Is there any other way of getting more power to the usb? I will be out and about so no mains power.
Would a USB Y cable with external power help at all?

im using a clean install of lubuntu 13.10 32bit. my external hard drive no longer shows up in pcmanfm unless i disconnect and reconnect the power source. after i do this it usually remains connected for a minute or two and then completely disappears.
I accidentally plugged the wrong power supply (used the power supply for my other external harddrive) into my 1TB external harddrive earlier, and not the harddrive doesn't seem to turn on. I put in the power cord, and nothing. Usually I'd hear it make some noise about 2 seconds after plugging in the cord, then Ubuntu would mount the drive, but now nothing happens.
Probably very simple solution, and I bet I cant see the trees for the forest. However, in my attached schem, the user can select bu use of a micro PCB (Sw1) switch if the device is to use battery power or loop power from an external source. The software in the PIc will go into one of two modes dependant on how its powered. Id lke to use pin6 6 on the switch I think!

I am currently looking for a quality portable external hard drive to go with my Thinkpad. It will mainly be used for storing my school files, music and videos. Some have already suggested Western Digital and Philips. Others gave me suggestion to choose between the portable one and that which has external power support.
