Is there a way to disable the screen fade which happens when a gui application asks for the users password (i.e. when gksudo is used i believe).For example, when starting synaptic most of the time. I find it annoying, and it doesn't fade cleanly on my system, so i'd prefer just not to have it. But my google-fu is weak.
I would like my desktop wallpaper to fade between transitions instead of a cut. Is there a way to do this with feh? Maybe using xcompmgr or compton?
If not is there a way of doing it without changing to a different wm? I am using awesome at the moment.
Right now I have an embedded terminal that occupies the bottom 100 or so pixels of my screen. This is super convenient for me, but unfortunately, whenever I maximize a window, it of course covers up the terminal. Is there any way to make an application when it maximizes, only take up the desktop area that does not include the very bottom of the screen where the terminal is.
I was wondering how to make a clickable terminal shortcut for my desktop using the command easytether connect.
I don't want to have to open/close the terminal every time I wish to connect to the Internet through my phone.
I've tried updating my gnome-panel but I can only make a new directory on my desktop.
I am using a hack to display an overlay over a picture in Google TV using a constant toast message.
I would like to know if there is a way to further modify the toast to remove the fade in and fade out effect. Ideally I would like the overlay to appear instantly.
Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated.

I noticed that when I go into expanded desktop mode on Pa beta8v2 there is a black bar at the bottom of the screen. It kinda cuts off at the middle of the icons and was wondering if there is a way to make the wallpaper go all the way down. Thanks in advance

I´ve just update to 4.1.1 and the screen seems to be sort of fade and not to have as much contrast as it used to have. Did anyone else experience this?
