[Q] KIES Stuffed. A bad time to fail.

http://forum.xda-developers.com – Eagerly awaiting JB update for my unlocked, stock I9300 (UK BTU). Trying to do things "by the book" and using KIES to check for updates. Yesterday KIES announced that it needed to do some kind of update related to firmware... Now, whenever I try to connect it reports "failed to retrieve device information" and doesn't connect. I've tried re-installing KIES, and it managed to connect once, after which I get the same message whenever I try again. I've tried disabling antivirus etc and using their connection troubleshooter, all to no avail. NOT HAPPY; very bad time for (HowTos)

Hello,

I'm from India and using Galaxy S3 now.

My phone (Galaxy S3) fails to recognize on Kies. I'm doing everything correct , but still it is not showing in Kies.

Previously it worked for me, but now its not at all.

Kies show this error message :- "Unable to connect to GT-I9300.Failed to retrieve device information."

I've installed all the drivers successfully.

I'm trying to get the jelly bean update for my Galaxy S2 but I can't connect to kies, i'm getting the error of "your device's current firmware version is not supported to update firmware via kies". My carrier is Bell, I updated to ICS via Kies last year.

Hi All, can anyone tell me if it is possible to connect the S3 using Samsung PC Studio instead of the rubbish Kies. Every time I try to update the firmware through Kies it says "GT-i9300 does not support initialising", my S3 is a factory unlocked (Sim free) phone on the Tesco network. Any help would be much appreciated, but please try to keep it simple for an idiot.

To make a long story short, I had to reinstall the OS on my S2 with what I thought was the stock version. When I connect to Kies I get a message saying that the firmware version can't be upgraded using Kies. Does this mean that when the Jellybean update becomes available (next month supposedly) I won't be able to update?

So pretty much I'm unable to update to the lates 4.0.4 that was just released (I'm currently on stock Taiwan firmware)

1. OTA gave me this error: N7000 failed to update firmware due to network or server problem. Try software update via Settings > Software update > Update, or try usng PC kies later.

Hello Just wondered if anyone could help. I have unrooted Galaxy S3 and have just gone to complete latest update via Kies. All was going smoothly, download to phone was complete, when error came up on PC USB device not recognised. :( Have updated the drivers via Kies but left with phone saying "Downloading Do not turn off target." Worried now about rebooting phone.

I have this Samsung galaxy s blaze 4g. Its an unlocked phone from USA and I am presently using it in India.

I wanted to update the same to ICS from the default gingerbread OS.
