I can scroll with with my touchpad and my buttons below touchpad works but I can't double tap on my touchpad.
If I use the safe then it works. This means touchpad functions correctly.
Any ideas please to solve the problem?
Remember when everyone was frantically looking for an HP TouchPad during their fire sale? I must have called 5 different Best Buy stores in my area with no luck. I have to say that, even today, I still love the beauty and finesse of WebOS. Of course the latest Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich offers a very similar charm, but WebOS was clearly ahead of its time.

Hello,
I have just upgraded to Ubuntu 11.04 (Gateway NV53u Laptop), with no problems except that I have lost the ability to scroll with my touchpad on my laptop.
Running xinput list shows that there is a PS/2 Mouse and AlpsPS/2 ALPS Glidepoint. Also, going through the Mouse and Pointer Device options, I see touchpad options, which I can fiddle with, but have no visible change.
Hey im installing Ubuntu, from within windows, for a friend who would like to try it (10.04). However, while his touchpad pointer/click is working great
1. his touchpad scroll is not working.
2.the "touchpad" tab under system>mouse>touchpad is missing.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
So, my touchpad works just fine when on login screen, but buttons and touchpad are completely unusable. Here's the kicker: the touchpad is NOT DISABLED. This occurred first after I locked the laptop and closed the lid while on battery power.
I'm an Ubuntu enthusiast.I own a HP touchPad tablet running webOS. I love to run ubuntu 12.X on it. I've gone through few sites and videos, nothing is clear. Please help me in this.

To meet the high demand for its discontinued, but steeply discounted $99 TouchPad tablet, HP says it will do one more production run before finally killing the project for good. Meanwhile, an alpha Android port to the WebOS-based TouchPad has been demonstrated, and a bounty for a full Android hack has increased to $2,300....
I'm trying to re-enable the synaptics touchpad on my laptop after disabling several months ago... And I can't remember which method I used to disable it.
