Well well well - I thought that if you wanted to upgrade your phone to newer firmware, you had to wait until Kies told you you have an update, otherwise flash via Odin and loose all your apps and settings etc etc.
Of course I have considered flashing via Odin but look here: -

My phone is stuck in Odin Mode and it gives a message that says that firmware upgrade encountered a problem and to connect it to Kies, I have tried holding the volume buttons at the same time as the power button to go into recovery mode but it doesn't work, it shows the samsung logo for less than a second and goes back to Odin Mode.
Connect to my phone (Galaxy SII) - Kies notifies new firmware is available
Firmware upgrade to ICS 4.0.3 worked like a charm.....
installed firmware:
PDA:LPG / PHONE:LPG / CSC:LPG (TGY)
But that upgrade apparently did something bad to Kies.
As per usual I started my daily backup - Kies prepares backup - and suddenly this message pops up on the phone

Originally Gingerbread, then I upgraded to 4.03 via official Kies firmware release.
Couple of days ago tried to upgrade to 4.04 using ODIN and got a fail at factoryfs.img.
So my dad won a Samsung galaxy tab 7.0 plus from some competition in Nigeria and sent it to me seeing as I live in the UK. I took out the Nigerian sim and put a T-mobile sim card in .I believe the Tablet is wifi+3G with calling capabilities.
When connected to kies, under firmware information I see this "Current firmware version:PDA:KL9/ PHONE:KL7 / CSC:KL2(ECT)".

Everytime i connect my SGA to my pc (with kies running), it tells me that a newer version of firmware is available and prompts me to download it. then i choose to download and install the firmware, it then proceeds to download the firmware. but as soon as the firmware download is complete, kies disconnects with the phone and re-connects without installing the upgrade.

I had a galaxy Apollo of 2 years. Today, I tried to update its firmware through KIES. After couple of minutes of downloading relevant files later, KIES hung. I woke up to find 98% downloading completed on my phone and KIES showing an error.
I touched the phone and it was too hot.
Earlier I was trying to upgrade the firmware via Kies and something went wrong. My Note is now stuck with a " Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again". But when you try to connect to Kies via usb then nothing happens and is unable to connect.
What are my alternatives to get my phone working again?
Hello.I flashed a firmware using odin because I was having wifi problems(I'm not having this problem anymore).Some days later I realized that I couldn't upgrade my S2 via kies.When my device is connected to kies I see a message "Your device does not support software upgrading via kies".
How can I solve this problem.I would like to upgrade to official Jelly Bean when it comes out.
