I am bootloader unlocked but I am stock and unrooted. But want custom recovery so I can have my restart option. Just not sure how to do that. Thanks for the help
ive just unlocked the bootloader for my xoom 4g (stingray) and went to install a custom recovery and it flashes fight in fastboot then when i reboot into recovey it shows the green android logo laying down then shows the red ! . i have to hold the power and the up volume key to show stock recovery.
why is the custom recovery not sticking. is it because im not rooted?
I'm about to flash a custom recovery, but I'm not sure if my bootloader is unlocked or not (phone is rooted, but I did it a while ago, so I can't remember the process I took), and I don't want to do anything that might risk losing all my current data. Can I simply run fastboot flash recovery [recovery image], and if it doesn't work, take that to mean my bootloader is locked?
First off, what is really happening when we are rooting? Even if I flash custom rom like clockworkmod, will I have to root again?
Do I have to unlock the bootloader then install the rom? If yes, why? What work does the bootloader do in regards to installation of the rom?
Why can't I put any random rom in any random phone?
What is shell?
What is a kernel.
I rooted my phone by odin method . Flashing clockwork mod recovery over stock recovery . And somehow I was able to install Superuser.
But now when I try to reboot in recovery it takes me to stock recovery mode not custom recovery.
I tried both recovery and they work for a while and after some time they dont.
Why is this happening ?
Su is working fine and I m on UVLH2 .
