I have used windroid htc one x+ toolkit to unlock bootloader.
It shows a dialogue saying bootloader is unlocked . But in the phone it still shows a locked screen and also showing as s-off
I have root and i am able to use titanium backup.
I have also tried to flash twrp recovery..
I have the AT&T Galaxy S3 on 4.1.2 and want to root for the first time. I've looked around and have seen that chainfire would be a good way for a beginner like me to use. I was going to do it, but then I read something that said the Bootloader had to be unlocked. I don't know what a bootloader is and if mine is unlocked.
I did enough Google search to find how to check if the bootloader is unlocked or for that matter the bootloader lock status. I have found various threads which point me to different devices like HTC, Xperia, etc.
I know this is a very nooby question but i would like to know why we need an unlocked bootloader and what it could do for us. Ive read somewhere that without an unlocked bootloader you cant flash custom roms but that confuses me because we already have custom roms and cwm. Im currently running on avatar rom 4.1.2 and im wondering what other cool things i could have with an unlocked bootloader.
I'm looking at buying an Xperia Play on ebay, and I'm trying to find out if the bootloader is unlocked. The seller says it is sim unlocked, but he doesn't speak good English and isn't understanding that I am asking about the bootloader. On my Nexus phone, there's a little padlock on the screen that shows what the unlock state is...does Xperia Play have something similar?
