I have a closed-source x86_84 library that I want to access from Python on Linux.
I usually use ctypes for this.
But this library is supplied as an archive (*.a) file. I cannot relink the library into a dynamic *.so because it was compiled without the -fPIC option.

I'm trying to install a client for openERP which requires the following python libraries:
I'm trying to use a library called pvcam (Photometrics Virtual Camera Access Method) with ctypes.
I do some Python programming in windows, understand how to use python in windows... However I do not know how to use python in Linux.
