http://www.linuxquestions.org – def spinBox_Changed(self, a0, b0=785, c0=300): self.LCDNumber10.display((b0-c0)/a0) this works great if I manually have b0 and c0 values there but I need to get these variables from a slider value and spinbox valve respectively. The slider is self.slider5_2.value tried lots of combos like .value display Value etc. The spinbox is self.spinBox24.value Any help or advice would be appreciated Thanks Gary (HowTos)

Running Mandriva One 2010, wireless works great in Live mode. When installed, I can only connect to unsecured networks (BTFon, BTOpenzone) but not to my own BTHomeHub network, which has a WPA key. I guess the problem is something to do with wpa_supplicant, but I'm not 100% sure what to do about it.

I'm using ubuntu, and I'd like my /var/log/syslog file to display unix_chkpwd lines, such as this one (which it doesn't do at the moment) : Feb 6 04:20:40 www unix_chkpwd[20528]: password check failed for user (root) I'd rather not install linux_pam unless really necessary because I already tried it and I've had quite a lot of problems with it.

Its not in the repo's. Its not in anything online that actually works. If i download the pack i either have the older versions of required packages or I dont have them all together. Now i cant get on any of the servers I did before because they upgraded, and I cant.

Tired of not knowing anything except Windows. Bought a Dell mini with Ubuntu 8.04 installed on it and I'm working on learning Unix from the command line. This Forum ought to be helpful once I get a little further along.

I'm just a desktop end user; On line banking, email, Youtube, IM, music, etc. The regular stuff. Can I get rid of Python? I don't program anything. Don't plan on it. Never gave it even a fleeting thought. Do I need it?

Does any other program or app depend on Python? Can I make a clean sweep of it? And if I can, what's the best way of doing it?

External Microphone not working 3 years 15 weeks ago

It's great to be a newby on this forum. I have been loving Ubuntu 9.10 and all was working fine until I tried to Skype. My Mic stopped working. I have tried all avenues. Sound prefs, input/output connections all I hear is static hiss.

How can I resolve the problem? I've even tried different mic's.

Please help.
