Today, web users of Google Drive are getting three new features involving Docs and Slides. All three the new features enhance the usability of Google’s productivity suite.

In a bid to make its online productivity software more competitive with Microsoft Office, Google has announced that Google Docs and Sheets users can now install add-ons that bring new capabilities to their documents and spreadsheets.
At its I/O developer conference earlier this month, Google announced a major update to its suite of productivity apps, including Docs, Sheets and Slides. The main feature there was the integration of QuickOffice, which now makes editing native Microsoft Office documents online easier.
At Google I/O 2014, it was announced that new features would be worked into Docs, Sheets, and Slides. The most important one is the ability to use Google’s productivity suite with any type of file and editing it without the need for another program. This means users can now view and edit Microsoft Office files without actually owning that productivity suite’s software.
Google has rolled out a new look for its Docs, Sheets and Slides productivity web app suite, with new homepages for each that present your content in a visual grid and that introduce just a hint of Material Design into the look and feel of the apps, with bold edge-to-edge fields of color and some basic animations.
