I'm running heyu, the home automation software, and it wanted to write to /var/lock.
Fedora makes /var/lock only root writeable (I did change this, but it gets changed back after a reboot so I presume that's saying, "Hey, don't do that!").
So I see that the Fedora way is to use /var/lock/lockdev which is root and the lock group writeable.

I recently installed ubuntu using wubi on my wndows 7 machine i got the following message from terminal when i tried to use the "sudo apt-get update" command. so i cant install codecs or anything.
I am new to Linux (installed Ubuntu for the first time yesterday), and have never dealt with any unix-based OS. I started using Linux for the sole purpose of collaborating code with my partners via git. I first needed to install jdk/jre.
I have tried double checking for updates and updating the ppa via the terminal. The terminal outputs this, at the end.
E: Could not get lock /var/lib/dpkg/lock - open (11: Resource temporarily unavailable)
E: Unable to lock the administration directory (/var/lib/dpkg/), is another process using it?
Any ideas?

I got my unlock code from ATT but I can not seem to find a way to unlock it, either with the ATT sim in or a TMobile one. Previously using methods here on XDA I was able to unlock the SIM lock; the Subset lock; the SP lock and the Corporate lock. Going into Diagnosis all of those locks are disabled. However, the Network lock is still enabled.

When ever i trid to restart cyrus-imap service its showing lock files of the users.
root@mail3:~# /etc/init.d/cyrus-imapd restart

To access camera on lock screen, I need to disable secure lock such as pattern lock or pin code lock so I can access camera from lock screen. Otherwise, it will unlock and ask for code to unlock before start camera.
