I have bought a new Insipirion 1464.Installed a OpenSuse 11.0 ,Gnome Desktop .
I dont have wireless connectivity in my laptop(i hve never used Wireless ).
I have done following step
1)Checked for wireless card in Hardware Information
==> was present
Wireless 1397 wlan min-card from broadcom family
2)Checked for firmware
I tried running iwlist command but getting message of following

iwlist scan
lo Interface doesn't support scanning.
eth1 Interface doesn't support scanning.
eth0 Interface doesn't support scanning.
I am not sure if this is the message that is supposed to be returned.
I'm using Ubuntu 12.04. I tried with this
sudo iwlist eth0 scan
but this doesn't seem to work :(..It says "interface dosn't support scanning"
What to do? Please help..
I can't access Internet on Ubuntu.
Even I've mobile broadband usb, but even that doesn't get detected. Other pendrives get detected

after almost one night looking to every different kind of websites/forums and so on, I'm stuck on configuring the wireless on this laptop.
I installed debian squeeze, basic, with no GUI because I don't need it for the purpose of this linux box.
I find out that the wireless card is:

I have tried to follow the sticky postings to get the Broadcom wireless to work on my 2004 Compaq laptop.

I am only using my wireless adapter during this test. I downloaded the VM of BT and booted up with VirtualBox, and when I attempt to find the wireless device via iwconfig, I get nothing.
