What is the processor? How much memory is there? Does it follow the classical method of booting? How much hard disk space is available? Can you answer the above questions? Are you sure y... [by AlanBartlett]
I am trying to find the best optimum levels for a "low-level-powered" server and believe it will help many others as many and many of the hosts are moving towards the VPS options offering these configs.
The site is running the latest WP.
I have 1 processor (AuthenticAMD, AMD Opteron(TM) Processor 6274, 2199.998 MHz, 512 KB cache)
Memory: 2097140k (2G)
Linux Centos 6.5 x86_64 kvm
I am trying to get server info from a VM using the Citrix XenServer API, and the XAPI RRDs. The API itself returns some semi-useful data like last boot time etc, but I'm really after available memory and disk space per VM. I'm using PHP.
I am able to get a figure for free memory, but it's always wrong. It's usually returned as a few KB.
I have a WIFI router/fax server based on IBM x31 laptop and slackware 14.0. The idle power consumption is only around 12W which is very nice. Since the hard disk space is very limited. I plan to use a pcmcia sata adaptor to mount a 3TB hard disk to make it into some kind of file server.
Here is the scenario.
I have windows 7 installed on my Dell inspiron 15,this OS occupies all of the available memory on hard disk.Just to make it clear by occupied space I mean size of C drive is equal to size of available hard disk otherwise used memory is far less than that. I want to install ubuntu on this laptop too.
