Running 9.10 on a dell inspiron e1705. It has an ati x1400 and I am using the built in radeon driver. Laptop suspends and resumes almost flawlessly (screen is dim on resume, but keyboard hotkey works to increase it).
Hey there,
I have opensuse 11.2 and sometimes my computer hangs for a while before suspend, shutdown or reboot. It doesn't output any sort of error, but if I switch to tty1 it says something about creating too many forks and the kernel being confused...
Anyone has any idea why this is happening?
Thanks :)
Ive looked around a bit and cant find anything recent on this so here goes.
Before i upgraded to 9.10 i could suspend using the hot key on my keyboard, i could not how ever use the hibernate hot key. I could also use the suspend AND hibernate buttons on the K menu and both worked fine.
Sometimes when I close my laptop lib, it doesn't go into sleep mode. The wireless network is disconnected, but it seems to get stuck before turning off the screen, harddrive, etc. Clicking suspend from the menu then has no effect, I assume because it's already trying to suspend.
I clean installed Ubuntu 12 several months back on Toshiba Satellite laptop and have had no problems. System was up to date working great. A couple days ago I tried the option of "suspend" instead of shutting down and could not resume. Had to do a hard shutdown and now I can't reboot. All I see after GRUB is black screen with flashing cursor in upper left corner of screen.
Running 11.10, when updated 4-5 days ago, my R61 and T61 have problems suspending, and shutting down, while suspend or shutdown, fan keeps on running !, screen shows some artifacts when suspend while sometimes screen stays on.
I can also hear my fan working at all time, but not fast, kind of on a scale from 1 to 10 a 5-6
Please help.
Hello,
When I run 9.10 as LiveCD on IBM Thinkpad 600x, Shutdown and Reboot work fine. Shutdown can power off the Thinkpad and Reboot can reboot.
However when install to harddisk, Shutdown cannot power off and Reboot restarts the Thinkpad but stop at memory test.
I'm a new crunchbang user (the Debian kind), and am having trouble with the power management features on my Toshiba netbook. The computer will go into suspend as directed, but when I try to wake it up again the screen stays black (although the computer is definitely on--I can feel the hard disk spinning and so on).
Hello
I recently installed Fedora 18 on my machine and have spend a few days on configuring it. I am using the kernel version 3.7.4.
I have unfortunately faced the following two very strange issues that I couldn't solve them:
1. Suspend to RAM does not work. When I choose suspend I get the black text mode screen with log messages but the system does not suspend.
