I have an interesting situation on my network right now. I have a 10.1.1.x space that I have a few dozen static IPs on (servers, etc.) and a 10.1.4.x space where we have other machines (DHCP-fed user machines).
I have virtualbox 4.1 on a ubuntu 12.04 host. On my host I have a virtual interface eth0:1 configurend as 10.0.1.1. I have a few virtual machines using bridged adapters, configured in the 10.0.1.0 net which I can reach (ping, ssh, ...) from my host via the virtual interface.
Now I installed an ubuntu server 12.04 in a virtual box, again using bridged adapter, but I can not reach that host.
Step 1 : In Hyper-v Machine i have created two Virtual Ports.
Step 2 : Now for these two diff ports two ip address with different subnet mask(e.g 192.168.9.19 and 192.16.9.20)have been assigned(and have checked using ifconfig).
I have a virtual network setup in the Azure cloud. The virtual machines (all with Windows Server 2008) can only identify each other by IP and not by host name. To do this I need to set up my own DNS server in the virtual network. I do not have the expertise to do this.
Is there not a way to locally configure DNS 'bindings' in each virtual machines' TCP/IP settings?
Hi, I have a small network, all my machines get their IPs dynamically in 192.168.0.0 network
When I ping linux machine fron win7 or win2k8, linux responds.
when I try pinging any machine from linux it says "unknown host sierac".
Recently, I created a new linux machine, linux machines can not talk to each other if I dont add their respective ips in the host file, but both of them can be c
First off, I know that this question exhibits bad practice, but the problem is being pursued from more an academic POV than practical application.
I'm using a number of Virtual machines (Using the most recent release of VMware). These machines include Windows XP Professional and Linux (Debian) servers.
I've been really frustrated by how little I've found on KVM setup, especially without virt-manager and virt-viewer. I can get the guest up and running, and I've seen the documentation on the ubuntu site, but I still can't figure out how to
a) configure the virtual network to be, say, 192.168.1.0/24
Hi all,
I really hope I'm not doing anything dumb here. I've got Ubuntu 10.04 on my laptop and have recently (within the last 72 hours) started having trouble connecting to other machines on my local network. I'm unable to ping both my router and a server set up in the room beside me.
1. I have tried pinging my server and router from other machines and it works fine.
I have worked on my Ubuntu Server host for weeks now and I just can not manage to get the virtual machines into the network.... here's what I need to do:
I need to be able to create virtual machines that have IP addresses that can be reached from the outside (192.168 network).
