Hello, i buy a new Computer and i want to use Xubuntu. I downloaded Xubuntu 12.04 64 Bit Desktop. If i try to boot from Live CD my Screen wents with bright colors and reboot what can i do? Currently i have windows 7 64 bit installed wich works without problems.
Installed Xbuntu 12.04 on Motion Computing tablet with Win XP as dual-boot. Used GPart to shrink XP partition and created empty 15 GB partition for Xubuntu. Installed from bootable USB stick. All went well. However, at startup, I get choices for Xubuntu, Xubuntu in safe mode, and Windows XP. Can choose win xp and boot into windows, but cannot boot into Xbuntu--with either choice.
I got windows xp and xubuntu 12.10, which are installed alongside on the harddrive and it uses the usual boot manager (GRUB) so I can choose which one to use. Then, I ran out of space disk in xubuntu and I believe that I literally have zero space. but after turning on computer again, xubuntu could not load and it gave a black screen saying 'checking battery state' and it lasted like forever.
I am running a toshiba laptop dual booting with windows vista and xubuntu. I have decided to go with xubuntu all the way and was wondering what I have to do to remove windows vista and recover the HD space to xubuntu. would I have to do a new install and choose not to dual boot?. massive newb here so spell it out for me:lolflag: please
Hello,
I tried:
a) running disk management on Windows XP. There, I deleted all the partitions that Windows stated was unknown and did not belong to it. However, then I got some black screen saying "grub, no partition" when I tried rebooting my PC.
b) running the installation CD for Xubuntu, but it clearly does not have an "Uninstall" option.
Afternoon all,
I've got a laptop here for Xubuntu installed on it.
What I want is a laptop that will boot up and run rdektop and connect to a windows terminal server.
At start up I have three sessions I can log onto.
* Xfce
* Xterm
* Xubuntu
So far I've configured Xubuntu and created a script that runs when the normal Xubuntu Session Starts.
Has anyone tried installing Fedora 19 alpha RC4 (which is alpha) as a dual boot with xubuntu? Anaconda, for some reason, does not recognize the large hard drive I have for Fedora as a valid space if I have xubuntu installed.
I'm newbie with ubuntu, I tried to install ubuntu, at the beginning xubuntu work for the first upgrade to xubuntu 12.04, but after the reboot, no winxp media center ether Xubuntu won't start and I have a screen Ctrl+Alt+Del nothing else. I read a little about, maybe the sata enabled on the bios.
I am going to assume Xubuntu is the best choice in my situation.
Kubuntu 12.04 worked fine on an older computer, but it was evident that 12.10 was too much for it. So, I decided to put Xubuntu on instead, and it loads faster, but it's Xubuntu 12.04.
Now, I am trying to upgrade to 12.10, and I don't see the option to do this.
