Good Morning,
opening a ram stream with RealPlayer, gives the following:
ALSA lib pcm_dmix.c:1010: (snd_pcm_dmix_open) unable to open slave,
and no sound, on 99/100 connections.
Has anybody the same problem? What can I do to solve it?
Thank You
P.S. Here is my alsa config:
Hi,
After one of the latest kernel update to opensuse 11.1 64 bit, I've started to have capture sound problem with builtin microphone of my laptop. It continues with latest opensuse 11.2 64 bit. I've volume up everything from mixer, yast's sound option, configure desktop's multimedia options, but nothing works.
Running 11.3 on my HP DV4-1220US the sound worked fine until I installed the Broadcom-wl wireless drivers then the sound stopped. I was able to get the sound working again by reconfiguring the sound drivers in YaST but it is unreliable and often stops working and I have no volume control in the system tray. Here is the output from the varous scripts and commands
Here is another topic on no sound from the sound card. It was working fine in 11.2 but not now. This was a clean install of 11.3 not an upgrade, whilst leaving my home directory alone. This is no sound from system, Amarok, web browser.>:(
Acer laptop, Intel soundcard.
When plugging in my headphones jack the sound is turned to mute and no sound come out , but sound works fine with no headphones
also in my alsamixer there is not automute option.

Resolving www.alsa-project.org (www.alsa-project.org)...
I have a relatively new Intel "Ultrabook", the HP Envy Spectre XT. It has the IDT 92HD99 sound card. Support for this was added to ALSA 1.0.25 based on this changelog:
http://www.alsa-project.org/main/index.php?title=Changes_v1.0.24_v1.0.25...
However the ALSA driver version in Ubuntu 12.04 is 1.0.24. Can someone explain how to update the ALSA driver to 1.0.25?
Hello
I have a problem recording sound with my Microphone in my current Opensuse 11.2(KDE) installation.
I tried installing Ubuntu on another partition, and it works there, so the hardware is not the problem.
I fiddled around with almost everything in kmix and alsamix, including the Mic Select, but nothing gets in arecord or krecord.
Hi, I run Ubuntu 12.04 and have Lenovo G780 laptop.
When I plug headphones to jack the sound mutes but you can't hear anthing from the headphones, I tried different headphones.
I ran a script I found on of the help pages here:
Code:
$ wget http://www.alsa-project.org/alsa-info.sh -O alsa-info.sh && bash alsa-info.sh

Hi,
Sound card is a XONAR DX PCI 4
When I installed Opensuse 11.2 I had sound working out of the box; the only problem was that the flash plugin did not work in firefox: no sound and some time locks ==> needed to kill firefox
I entered in Yast sound and received an error message "Could not load kernel module for sound support error.
