Problem with r8169 driver supplied with Fedora 10

http://forums.fedoraforum.org – I have found that r8169 driver does not work properly with my D-Link Gigabit cardbus adapter which is built on a Realtek chip. I had intermittent connection problems and my log was full of messages "r8169: eth2: link up". Searching Google shows that this is a common problem with r8169 driver. However, latest version of the driver available on the Realtek's website works just fine. My network problem were solved after downloading, compiling and installing the new driver (version 6.011.00). Since I've spent couple days tracing the problem, I thought this might be a useful information for other r8169 users out there. (HowTos)

is it wrong driver?, randomly drops Internet connection.

Realtek provides the source code for the r8168 driver which is based on the r8169 driver from the kernel tree if I may believe their source:

/* * This driver is modified from r8169.c in Linux kernel 2.6.18 */

Both are GPL licensed, so source code may be exchanged with no legal issues.

I need help creating the driver for the RealTek RTL8111DL network interface built into my motherboard - MSI 770-C45. I've downloaded the driver from the RealTek website, and followed the directions in the readme to extract the compressed package, change directory to the new directory.

For myself yes.  And for yourself: 3.6 just might bring a better r8169.  If it doesn't there is always 3.7.  It will happen eventually.

New server built with 10.04 LTS server 64b. Have updated kernel to 2.6.32-44, installed build-essentials, and have latest linux-headers for this kernel. Need realtek driver r8168 to supprt second nic card (for LAN). Kernels come with old driver r8169 for some reason which doesn't support 10/100/1000 cards which use realtek chipset. File is on a flash drive which is mounted.

I had no issue with F11 until yesterday. After I installed the security updates and rebooted F11, a message showed there forever " r8169 eth0 link up" and nothing happened. Please help me out. Thanks.
